What is a zero waste? In the simplest terms, zero waste is a lifestyle that limits the amount of waste and minimize pollution of the environment. Zero waste living boils down to applying certain principles of the so-called 5R – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot – to be followed in that order.
For many people life like this seems to be impossible, because we’ve become used to the easy life and buying things which we don’t really need. Here are some tips that will help you to put into life 5R’s rule:
Refuse what you don’t need – you don’t really need in your life products wrapped in plastic, freebies or plastic bags and bottles.
Reduce what you do need – surround yourself only with things you actually use and what you need to live.
Reuse by using reusable – use reusable packaging like glass jars.
Recycle what you can’t refuse, reduce, or reuse – paper is a good example to turn it into something useful.
Rot the rest – compost organic waste, getting energy or natural fertilizer from it for your plants.
Applying those rules will be a great way to start for beginners who want to do something good for our planet.
