As a college student, you probably spend a lot of time around your campus without thinking about living green. But being eco-friendly helps you save money and look after the environment at the same time. Take a look through the following tips to begin your way to eco-friendly studying.
Take notes electronically.
Studying in collage is producing lots of papers. Books, notes, scripts, worksheets… everything is printed on paper, but not everything has to be in a form of printed documents. Many of the books are available as ebooks, so you can have them downloaded and on your computer whenever you need them. Computer is your friend. Use your computer for making notes. This is a simple and quick way to take notes during lectures, which will appeal especially to people whose handwriting is illegible or just simply does not like to write by hand.
Recycle paper.
When you have to use paper, use maximum of it. Always use two sides of paper and when you are printing a document, change font to smaller or print two pages on the same page – it will reduce the usage of paper by half!
Make yourself a packed lunch.
Eating at collage. You spend most of your time in college, so you need to take care about the meals you eat. Of course, they should be healthy and have a lot of nutritional value, but when we pack our meal we should remember about the environment. You can eat in the canteen where cutlery and plates are usually reusable, but when you are prepaying meals on your own, pack them in a reusable container.
Invest in a re-usable water bottle.
It can take up to 1000 years for a plastic bottle to degrade. However, plastic bottles do not biodegrade, so they will remain in our environment forever. Plastic contains several toxins that are dangerous for our health.
Commute more environmentally friendly.
In addition to helping you live a healthier lifestyle, trying to cut down on driving can help the environment and save you money.
