Lemon juice is another natural substance that can be used to clean your home. You can use lemon as a cleaning paste, furniture polish or scrub. It will be great to clean bathrooms by dissolving soap scum and hard water deposits.

Baking soda can be used to scrub surfaces or as a deodorizer. Put it in trash cans, laundry, and even in shoes.

1. Lemon

Lemon has a antiseptic and antibacterial properties. It acts as a natural bleach. Rub a slice of lemon across your chopping board to disinfect the suface. Mix a few drops of lemon juice with baking soda to remove stains from plastic containers. Easy clean your microwave and remove odors. Slice the lemon in half and squeeze the juice into the cup filled with water. Drop the lemon halves into the bowl. Place the bowl in the microwave. Microwave on high power for three minutes so the liquid comes to a boil. Do not open microwave door for about 5 minutes. Open the door and carefully remove the bowl with the lemon. Wipe away food particles with a clean cloth and dry. Add a few drops of lemon juice to your dish soap to boost degreasing ability. 2. Vinegar

Descale your kettle

For a cheap and hassle-free way to remove limescale use vinegar. Pour a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water into your kettle, allow it to boil, then rinse the kettle out few times. You could live mixture overnight for better result.

3. Baking soda as a cleaning agent

Sodium bicarbonate is a white solid that is crystalline, but often appears as a fine powder. It has a slightly salty, alkaline taste resembling that of washing soda (sodium carbonate). It is a component of the mineral natron and is found dissolved in many mineral springs.” It is so versatile that it has uses in cooking, cleaning, medicine, personal hygiene, and putting out grease fires.

Clean and unclog your smelly sink with baking soda and vinegar.

Deodorize your carpets

  • Clear any furniture off the carpet to access the whole surface area. Vacuum the carpet to remove any dirt, debris, or pet fur.
  • Sprinkle baking soda liberally all over the carpet
  • Wait a few hours or ideally overnight for the baking soda to absorb the odors.
  • Vacuum up the baking soda.
  • Put your furniture back.

Soak your  toothbrushes with a mixture of ¼ cup bicarbonate of soda and a ¼ cup of water overnight and rinse the next morning.

De-grease your oven door

  • Mix 3 parts bicarbonate of soda to 1 part warm water to form a paste.
  • Warm the oven for a few minutes and then switch it off.
  • Wipe the glass with a damp cloth.
  • Spread the paste on both sides of the oven door.
  • Leave for 2-3 hours until the paste turns brown.
  • Wipe both sides with a damp sponge cloth.

Clean your dishwasher with baking soda.

  • Check the dishwasher drain, removing any piece of food. This will improve drainage, increase cleaning efficiency and prevent damage to the dishwasher.
  • Baking soda wash. Sprinkle one cup of baking soda across the bottom of the dishwasher. Run it through another quick wash cycle using the hottest water setting.
