Getting Your Back Garden Ready For Summer

We are now into summer and many of our gardens have suffered from a brutal winter. However, the sun is now shining down and is really showing the neglect you gave it in the colder months. There are plenty of things you can do when it comes to making your garden look nice.

Target The Weeds

Picking weeds can be one of the worst chores when it comes to sorting out the garden. Especially when they grow back within a few weeks. This is a job where you will need to dedicate a few hours but, you will see a massive difference once you have finished with it.

There are plenty of ways where you can de-weed your garden. You can use a spray where you will have to wait several days for it to work. You can also use your hands to pick them out or use an oscillating hoe. However, this requires more physical work so stick with the spray if you want to make it easier for yourself. One thing to remember is that using chemicals on your weeds can damage the environment, so use it moderately.

Bring Out The Lawn Mower

Nobody enjoys mowing the lawn as you will have to do it once every 2-3 weeks. If your grass is flat then that is great and makes your life far easier when it comes to sorting your garden out. Use a lawnmower to get the centre part of the lawn before moving towards the edges and using a trimmer. Maybe even consider

If you are one of those people that has concrete flags instead of grass then, you will have to do this differently. There will be plenty of algae/ moss on your flags so that is perfect for the jet washer. If your garden is susceptible to pigeon guano then call a professional pigeon guano removal service. As this can be a difficult task to do this alone.

Do Not Ignore Your Decking/ Patio

There are many gardens out there that will have a lot of different small flower pots. They have probably been neglected for a few years as well. So maybe it is time to get rid of them. Either the pots could be chipped or the plants have just been battered for several seasons.

Instead, why not get one large plant or even a small tree in a plant pot. There are plenty of plants out there that are just made for being on their own. Not to mention that it is far easier looking after one plant pot compared to several different ones. Just shop around at your local garden centre. You will soon come across something that fits your garden.

Garden Furniture

If you are one of those people that loves to sit out in the garden. You will more than likely have garden furniture as well. This can deteriorate a bit over the colder months. They could have dirt, moss and algae which is not an issue. It is easy to get rid of by using a power washer or a scrubbing brush. If you have not neglected it for a long time then it should be fairly easy to remove.

If you have wooden furniture then give a fresh coat of paint. Followed by wood stain remover. This will easily get that wooden furniture looking like it is brand new by the time you have finished. One of the simple tips we suggest for making your garden look like heaven.

Summary

The great garden summer clean is nobody’s favourite. However, as soon as it is complete, you can enjoy the rest of the summer. Soon as you see that the weather is supposed to be fine one weekend, get it all done then. You could also consider getting yourself a gardener to sort it but where is the fun in that? Gardening can not only help the environment but it also saves money as well.
