As World Environment Day approaches, it is important to reflect on nature. For us to understand why the environment should remain a top priority, we must first acknowledge all the living organisms that make up the ecosystem, as well as the importance of preserving it so that we may live securely and happily on this planet. Here are five ways you can take part in World Environment Day 2022 to raise public awareness.
1. Plant a Tree
Every year on June 5, the world celebrates World Environment Day, a United Nations initiative designed to promote reflection and action on issues ranging from climate change and global warming to conservation and sustainable consumption.
Planting a tree is one of the ways we can contribute to the environment as individuals. Many associations have often been seen to have built this campaign entirely on their own. Is this the end? Not to mention the reality, but most people will just let someone grow a tree. The point where you do it manually is what makes you truly involved in the cause. Even when you start gardening, you should avoid usingsprinklers and water it by hand before the sun comes up to reduce water loss due to evaporation.
2. Choose Where to Shop
It’s always better to buy durable products with a long lifespan rather than spending on some non-durable products . Limit your consumption by selecting some truly sustainable products that you can adhere to on a regular basis for a longer period of time. Instead of purchasing fast-moving products, we could select some real standard products that are trendy while also aligning with your value of sustainability. The first and most important step would be to eliminate plastic and replace it with organic eco materials for a more premium feel and a more comfortable life.
Dzukou, a sustainable lifestyle brand, is a new market innovation that seeks to replace plastics in products with alternative eco-materials. Dzukou has also experimented with rural craftsmen in East India.Their mission is to create new eco-materials for products while also assisting these artisans in reaching out to western markets. They curate handcrafted items from Indian artisans, such as Eri Silk stoles. These products are made with high-quality local eco-materials such as silk, bamboo, wood, linen, and paper. We adore their natural aesthetic, and we are confident you will as well.
3. Reduction of Industrial Waste
We can also reduce industrial waste by practising good product care, which ensures that a product continues to function optimally for an extended period. If necessary, we can try to repair something before completely replacing it. This would be the first step toward reducing pollution to the environment. Even large corporations are pledging to be more environmentally friendly, with all promising to clean up their operations. In some parts of the world, technology is helping to curb illegal deforestation with the development of electric cars.
4. Fashion Changes: Slow Fashion
For a variety of reasons, a person’s lifestyle choices in his or her own home can contribute to environmental degradation. As a result, restoration initiatives are scalable and adaptable, allowing almost anyone to participate, from governments and local councils to businesses and communities to families and individuals.
As Earth Month continues, it is critical to highlight the “slow fashion” movement, which aims to make fashion more sustainable for both people and the environment. Slow fashion encourages all of us, as consumers, to change our attitudes and stop mindless shopping. While we’ve been in a “more is more” cycle of clothing production for years, the environment is suffering as a result of this toxic cycle.
Slow fashion, as opposed to fast fashion, is a business model in which clothing is produced with greater care and using more environmentally friendly materials. While the manufacturing process takes longer, it also allows for the creation of well-designed pieces that are built to last, can be easily repurposed, and thus produce less waste.
5. Educate and Engage
Through environmental education, people can learn about environmental issues, solve problems, and take action to help the environment. People are able to make informed and responsible decisions when they have a better understanding of environmental issues. We can also try engaging people through campaigns where people come together to do some cleaning and education.
